Would make no difference to me. Just a thought - maybe should be its own thread - by nature of what we do we are all, I would say, keen observers and appreciate the country we spend our time in hunting. We would all have a photo or two worth posting to give a visual hit for others of the type of cou...

Havn't checked in here for a few days - thanks for the comments fellas. It's certainly good pig country if you can beat the doggers. No he didn't get to give chase. If they do in country like that with nothing worth climbing around, the only thing left to do is get BEHIND your mate :D I shoot about ...

G'day Jeff, Sorry it has taken a while to get back to you, I havn't checked in here for a week or so. Just saw your thread. Had a good trip thanks. Couple of good points Mark P! If you leave out the name you leave out the ego's which in my opinion are at the root of most of that goes wrong in bowhunting (or any hunting for that mater). Replace the name with your quipment set-up and still recognise the animals details (only more details than jus...

At the risk of bashing the broadhead subject to death Daryl, I was wondering if you had seen the broadhead test done by Ed Ashby (I think). The way I understood it was that in all areas a 2 blade cut-on-contact broadhead out performed all others. All testing was done with trad gear on African game. ...

A wild look'n set of arrows!
I've just today finished a project that I took over about 5 weeks with a year 3 class. Their teacher did some back up stories etc but the main exercise was me helping them all to build an arrow each. It was my son's class and with him as my offsider for about a 2 hour session a week we battled throu...

My latest favourite timber
I am just finishing off a couple of recurves with Burdekin Plum (not sure of spelling) in the riser and features. Don’t know if I fluked a special log but – what beautiful stuff! I know you have used it before Jeff but this is the first time I have seen it in a good sized, finished pie...

A plug for trad
I spent a couple of days on the Reds last week to get a mate some time in the bush and away from town and hopefully a chance on his first deer. He shoots a recurve these days but recently had a spill off his dirt bike and cracked a bone in his arm. I loaned him a light recurve to build up again but ...

G'day Jeff, I seem to recall seeing one (only one I must admit) funny looking alloy thingy with inch marks, skulking around in the dark resesses of your workshop once (you must have known that that one would come back and bite you one day!) Serriously though I agree with you on the woods, not...

Sambahunta, I've only ever made 2 selfbows, one from soapwood (Red Ash) and the other from Aussie Ossage. Have to say that I enjoyed working with the Ossage much more. It was a snaky piece of timber but it came out the poundage I was after and made a good quick bow. Took it to the hills and got luck...
