Re: Who bare shaft tunes their arrows?

I will do a proper write-up of the experiment and detail the method used so others like yourself can examine my investigation technique and make comments. All you need to do Dennis is whip the feathers off a few field pointed arrows, shoot them alongside some fletched shafts of the same spine, then...

Re: Who bare shaft tunes their arrows?

I have no doubt of its inherent usefulness as a tool to correct intractable faulty arrow flight, but only AFTER a problem has been established. But sometimes the problem may never be realised, with feathers correcting the shaft well enough to give what appears to be good arrow flight. Bare shafting...

Re: Who bare shaft tunes their arrows?

I do as it helps me shoot more accurately with fletched shafts, be it in a target or hunting scenario.

This Ken Beck video runs through the why and how of bareshaft tuning. If you have not tried it give it a go.

Re: The things you see when you aint got your bow.

They are related to the collered peccary or javalina which is native to Texas, New Mexico and Arizona in the U.S. and Mexico where the white lipped peccary also ranges. I believe they have musk glands like the javalina so be careful if you kill one when skinning or you will stink to high heaven,LOL...

Re: The things you see when you aint got your bow.

Great shots and what a nice fish! Are they any good to eat as well as being a topnotch sporting fish? They are edible but not great a much better sportfish than table fish. What a shame you didn't have ya bow with you. I'm sure you and Ol' Matchsticks would have made short work of him. Je...

The things you see when you aint got your bow.

Spent a day on a very nice dorado river last week. Was invited to fish there for the day and check it out with a few to guiding anglers on it. Saw a heap of dorado which was great but the thing that really excited me was the amount of what looked like small pig tracks. Rounding a bend in the river I...

Toucans

More South American wildlife. These birds have come down from the mountains to feed on fruiting trees. Only ten minutes drive from town. They are very flighty and hard to get close to. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc220/tommogb/Toucan_zpsddccf14e.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc220/to...

Bought one while in Australia. Never used a prime lens before so have nothing to compare it to but was a good buy for a single Thredbo Dollar. ($100) A couple of pics taken with it on a 7D. It was nice to get back out on some trout and also fling a few arrows out of old 'matchsticks'. Yes Jeff I am heading back to South America but first am heading out for some fallow (tomorrow in fact), then a few days chasing tuna on the mid north coast, followed by some more fox whistling, goat and ...

March April fish and hunt

Been out and about around the lovely state of NSW over the past month and a half, hunting pigs, goats and seeing a few deer too, plus trouting and chasing a few pelagics land based. Success has been limited but I tell you what having not been able to hunt seriously for two years it has been great to...

Five months in Bolivia - Image heavy

Spent five months at Tsimane Lodge Bolivia last year, guiding fly anglers on golden dorado. Worked a lot with the local Chimane indians who were incredible hunters and great shots with their bows. Below are a few photos that I thought might be interesting for some. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums...

Glad you liked the pics fellas. Plenty more photos of the country and fishography to come I reckon. So the software that came with the camera should be sufficient to process the RAW stuff. Hey Nutgrass, found out today I used a 7D with that same 18-270 Tamron lens on it (not that I had a clue then) last October. Used to shoot with a bow quiver, and while they may dampen shot noise a little I figured why use a nice lightweight recurve (or long) bow and then add half a dozen arrows to it's weight. Bought a GFA side quiver to use with my PCH and found it to be excellent, so bought another to use with my other ...
