Re: Thanks for the Rap

Mick, I have just read the widowmaker post and now this one. I cant believe how much time some people devote to being argumentative....... Re, broadheads for wooden arrows, I personally tried this and the response in sales was so poor I would not do it again, with the benefit in hind sight. ...

Re: Laying out perfect helical fletching with just a texta.

Duncan, The reason I asked you the question, is that it matters very much which side of the feather is angled into.... to face the air flow. Every primary flight feather from a birds wing is an engineering marvel of millions of years of evolution. Each flight feather has a firm and a soft side....pu...

Re: Aussie unknown but have the same blade

I cant help you with origin of these two examples except to say they are not ones of mine. The very early Outback Supremes were attached to the alloy ferrule by crimping down the nose of the alloy ferrule into a hole in the blade, similar to the Bear razorheads that had the blue and green alloy ferr...

Re: Trad Shoots in 2013

Its a bit hard to work in around the ABA and other local shoots, this year we sort of got squeezed out of 2012. Thats why we got in very early for 2013. If possible we try for a date in November, I will talk about November 2013 out at bow club tomorrow and we will see if we can fit it in. Will let y...

Re: experiment

What style of broadhead was it, a 2 blade, 3 blade or 4 blade. A 2 blade, cut on contact style, will always have more penetration if any bones are hit. The angle of the blades also makes a big difference, a head 3 times as long as its wide ( 3:1 ratio ) is optimum as far as penetrating qualities goe...

Re: Advantages of Adjustable riser Trad Bows

Jacko, Maybe there is something in Binghams catalog you need for the timber riser, http://www.binghamprojects.com/Catalog.pdf I think the timber arrow only rule at Trad shoots is not a good thing. Back in the day, when I was a young bloke, timber arrows were about all there was, and quality POC were...

Re: Advantages of Adjustable riser Trad Bows

I'm looking for an old Black Bear or similar riser to do just that Grahame. There's a fella on Trad Talk forum offering ILF adapter plates to do these conversions for about $30 US. I have a 3/4 finished static recurve form that I plan to build the ILF limbs for that project. I also have started a t...

Re: What to you is a Good or Bad Broadhead

Otis, No worries mate, I think a lot of people look at alloy ferrules with some suspicion The truth is, that the blade to ferrule attachment is a possible place for failure on many broadhead designs, and not just for alloy ferrule styles. The blade running down the ferrule's side slots in Outbacks h...

Steve, I like slightly quartering away best and I aim so the arra will hit the off side front leg. The kill zone in real life can be quite a lot different to those shown on paper and 3D targets. Jeff Jeff, Quartering away is the best angle of attack, with out a doubt. Personally, how ever if I was ...

Re: testing some judo points arrows for the first time

Judo points are only fit for practice, and in my opinion dont have enough shock value to be any good as a small game hunting head. If you dont like losing wounded rabbits, dont use them. Broadheads work well, but is overkill for rabbits and expensive, as the loss/damage attrition rate on your arrows...
